TWO DAYS-DAY OF TAN BEFORE CARE

Two Days Before Tan

· Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate! Pre-session exfoliation is the first step to achieving flawless spray tanning results. It is best to clear away dry, dead skin cells with a sulfate-free scrub from Norvell. This will polish and prep the pH balance of the skin to keep orange undertones at bay.

· All waxing, pedicures, etc should be done today waiting until the day before, or day of your session will cause patchy results.

Tip For the Perfect Tan:

Avoid using bar soaps, high pH shower products or in-shower moisturizers. Be sure to complete any waxing, shaving or use of depilatory creams no later than 24 hours prior to your session. For vacation, or special events typically we recommend spraying 1-2 days before your event.

Day Before Tan

· Shower with Norvell sulfate-free gentle cleanser, shave, refrain from using any lotions or perfumes.

Day of Your Session

· As you prepare for your Norvell sunless tan, be sure to wear loose fitting, dark clothing and no jewelry. Tight clothing can run or smear bronzers, especially around the knees, elbows, chest and waist. Before you head to your appointment, there are some important “don’ts” you won’t want to ignore. Deep penetration of the solution is key to a beautiful lasting color.

Tip For the Perfect Tan:

Don’t create a sunless barrier by applying anything to the skin. Avoid applying lotions, creams or perfumes prior to your session. Even use deodorant sparingly. Don’t wear any makeup to your sunless tan appointment, if unavoidable, remove prior to your spray tan.

AFTERCARE

AFTER SUNLESS TAN CARE

After Session Care

· Immediately following your appointment, stay dry! Any contact with water will ruin your tan.

· Your first shower will be a warm water rinse only, do not use soap, shampoo, or any other products. Doing so will stop the development process. Wait a full 24-48 hours to use soaps. This rinse shower will wash off the cosmetic bronzer, which perfectly normal. DHA, the product used in all sunless tanning solutions, is actually clear and takes 24 hours to develop on your skin. The timeline for your first shower depends on your selected solution type; rapid solutions allow showering in 1-3 hours while traditional solutions require 6-8 hours development time.

· Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize! Once dry, apply Post Sunless HydroFirm™ Moisturizing Spray to add moisture, seal sunless results and boost the DHA reaction. When showering after 24 hours, use pH Balancing Shower Cleanser. When drying, pat yourself with a towel.

Tip to Optimizing the Perfect Tan:

Refrain from showering as long as possible, ideally for 24 hours. As with all DHA products, sunless color begins showing development approximately 4 hours post application and continues to darken for up to 24 hours. If you must shower before the 24 hours has lapsed, do so using a warm water rinse only. The use of soap can inhibit full development of DHA. Never fear, cosmetic surface bronzers will wash away during the first shower.

Bodybuilding/Competition Before & After Care

BEFORE

ONE WEEK OUT & NIGHT BEFORE PREP

One Week Before Tan

· Shave your entire body about seven days before your tanning appointment to remove most of your body hair. Shave again the day before your tanning appointment to remove any stubble. Use shaving gel and a new razor to rid all hair on body except for face, unless desired. Make sure to lotion after shaving to avoid unsightly razor burn. Be sure to shave again the day before your sunless tan.

· Exfoliate your entire body starting seven days before your tan. Scrub with an exfoliation glove or washcloth and oil fighting exfoliating wash. Get rid of as much dry/dead skin cells as possible paying close attention to elbows, knees, shins, armpits, hand and wrists, throat and sides of torso.

· Minimize the amount of body lotion you use for the week leading up to your tan. Dryer skin absorbs product faster, dries faster and looks better when tan. We recommend not using any body lotion for at least five days leading up to your tan. This includes in-door tanning bed lotions!

Night Before

·      Shave, if needed. By now you should have no hair left on body; be sure to double check any stubble that has regrown. Do not apply any lotion after this final shave.

·      Exfoliate and shower before bed if your tan is early the next morning giving your skin time to dry. Remember no lotion, deodorant or make up on skin.

Day of Your Session

DAY OF BASE COAT & STAGE APPLICATION

DAY OF BASE COAT CARE & STAGE COAT APPLICATION CARE

Day of Base Coat

  • Be freshly showered for your appointment. It will be the last shower you will take before your competition. Freshly showered means the following: ABSOLUTELY NO DEODORANT. NO BODY LOTION, FACE LOTION, PERFUME/COLOGNE, MAKEUP OR JEWELRY ON YOUR BODY.  Next to shaving, this is the most important step. Do not shave. Shaving right before you airbrush tan can make it difficult for the color to absorb into the skin.

  • Arrive to your appointment at least 10 minutes early.

  • Loose fitting clothing must be worn after tan. Baggy sweats or shorts and a loose t-shirt with flip flops is strongly recommended. Do not wear tight clothing such as socks, bras, tights, jeans, underwear or anything else that could rub off you tan.

  • Avoid contact with water! Do not sweat and be sensitive to the weather conditions. If you have leather in your car be sure to sit on a towel, if raining wear water resistant clothing.

  • Sleep-in loose-fitting clothing. Your clothing and sheets will absorb any excess tan solution. It's best to wear loose clothing to protect your tan while sleeping. Put a thin coat of lotion on palms of hands before going to bed, this will protect palms from turning orange.

Day of Competition

  • The day of show we will set up to apply a top coat to finish off your tan and obtain the color desired for most judges.

  • If you have any mishaps, we are there to fix you! The top coat can go over your make-up, if your face needs to be darker.

AFTER CARE

CARE FOR YOUR GLOW AFTER THE SHOW

After the Show

·      Shower to remove top layer. You will notice the second coat of tan washing down the drain. Doing so will tone your tan down. The weeks following you can let your tan fade off gradually or start scrub with your exfoliating mitt and product. The tan will look blotchy when coming off.

·      Moisturize! Your tan will last 5 to 7 days. The excessive DHA, to get the color desired, will dry skin out more than normal. You start piling on the lotions and skin moisturizers.
